Love refuses to leave him alone.
Aiden Newell knows he’s a coward for refusing to go home, but he doesn’t care. He won’t go back as long as Justin Pollasky is still there. If he goes back, he’ll just fall in love with the man all over again. Justin has loved him and left him the past.
Justin has been trying to get Aiden back for a year and a half, but the man refuses to see him. Every time their teams work together, Aiden takes off for parts unknown. When Aiden gets kidnapped by the human traffickers trying to put him behind bars, Justin gets a little bit crazy with worry. He just hopes he can get Aiden back in time to make things right.
This is the fifth book in the Lakehouse Security series and while I loved the first book, my enjoyment of each chapter has subsequently waned a great deal. While other books were somewhat meh, I just didn’t like this one at all. As a result I won’t be continuing the series.
The main plot here is supposed to be between longtime lovers Aiden and Justin. It starts with Justin about to leave on another mission and Aiden not happy about it. It ends up being too much for Aiden to handle and he refuses to deal with it anymore, even when Justin begs him for another chance.
There is some action in the tale, such as when Aiden is kidnapped by some bad guys tied to the baddies in the previous books. However, it never felt truly dangerous. I never got deeply invested in the relationship between Aiden and Justin. I never felt that they were truly in love with each other and didn’t feel like the author tried that hard either. It seemed that this book was more about setting up future installments.
Sorry, but I just don’t care anymore.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
