Blurb:

Lucas Vallois is always in control. He’s building an empire in the glittering city of Cincinnati and created his own family from his three close friends. The self-made millionaire has everything he wants within his tight grasp. But his world starts to crumble after he’s jumped by a trio of thugs late one night after leaving a club. The warning is clear—give up his new property venture or end up dead.

Caving to the demands of his friends, Lucas accepts the help of bodyguard, Andrei Hadeon, as as he hunts for the source of this new threat. But as Lucas gets closer to uncovering the danger, he realizes the sexy Romanian bodyguard poses an even bigger risk to his carefully constructed world. Trapped by a need he never expected, Lucas must find a way to deny the shiver of longing he cannot control.

His brother. His warrior. His heart. Four friends. Unbreakable bonds.

My View:

I love it when a new to you author leaves you wanting more! I really enjoyed this first book in the Unbreakable Bonds series and can’t wait to see where it goes next.

Lucas Vallois is like a big growly alpha who is only relaxed when he is with his very small group of friends. Friends is too mild a word to describe what Snow, Ian and Rowe are to him though – really they are his family, the only people in the world he trusts, and he would die for each of them without a moment’s thought.

Lucas wasn’t always a wealthy business man. He has clawed his way to the top and now someone is trying to stop him. After being attacked Rowe organises a bodyguard for him and the arrival of Andrei really shakes things up.

I got the overwhelming feeling that Lucas is a lonely man sat alone in his ivory tower. His wealth may have given him the pretty things in life but it hasn’t really given him happiness in fact I would say the exact opposite is true. He lives his life as he thinks he should rather than how he wants and his solitude makes him cold.
Andrei is surprised by his feelings for his new boss but he can’t seem to stop himself from what he sees as inappropriate behaviour. His very presence starts to rattle the usually unflappable Lucas and it’s soon obvious that nothing is going to get in the way of these two coming together. That side of things is the easy part though as whoever is out to stop Lucas’s business plans raises their game and lives are threatened.

This story has a bit of everything and is a book I didn’t want to put down. There is a good and not so easily solved mystery, a great deal of suspense as well as passion and heat. The secondary characters are interesting and I cannot wait for Snow’s story – his mood swings, his off the page intensity, his dark feelings and his need for a ‘screamer’ – is something I am really looking forward to!
