Hi, everybody! Thursday was a fantabulous day. Take a look!
We’re starting with PizzyGirl, Christine, and I with Brandon Witt, sporting our t-shirts featuring pony art by the lovely Catherine Dair. We love you, thank you!
The picture was taken just outside the book seller room, which includes an Indie Author table with books by Jordan Castillo Price, Jordan Hawk and others.
Between some of the sessions, we took some time to just hang out, spending time together. The lovely, sweet, smiley Joseph Lance Tonlet took a break and must have felt like a rock star, as it was kind of like an assembly line, everyone wanting a picture – outside the bar, no less – with him and his smile.
We ran into Amelia Gormley during the author lounge and had a great time discussing her Strain series that I’ve reviewed here on PBA. Christine and PizzyGirl kept saying “it’s on my kindle! I swear I’m going to read it!”. Yes, I’m totally calling out my awesome fellow PBA’ers! 😉 😀 Hee!
The three of us attended a Q&A session with Vanessa North, Jet Mykles, and Lane Hayes.
Vanessa answered questions and discussed the need for more diversity in our literature and it was direct, full of truth, and very well said and I loved it. She spoke about her upcoming projects, including more in the Lake Lovelace series, as well as some of her self-published works being out on audiobook.
Jet will forever be a soul sister due to her fellow love of Duran Duran! They and the music of the 80’s were great inspiration for her stories about those rock stars. She also discussed the great importance of critique groups and beta readers during the writing process.
Lane talked about her love of any kind of artist and how their personalities can be a mix of brilliance and uncertainty, feeling as though they don’t deserve the personal success that comes from creating something unique and spectacular. They’re often the inspiration for her stories and characters.
Later in the day, we attended a Q&A with Lisa Henry, Rhys Ford, and Charlie Cochet.
Charlie was up first and she was adorable in her humbled embarrassment as everyone clapped and wooooo’d her shifters series, THIRDS. 😀
She talked about Dex being the first character who came to her, or rather barreled into her, and how a lot of her is in him. This especially goes for the love of 80’s music. She also discussed her process of choosing animals to match the characters based on their personalities, like Cael being a sweet, quiet guy like a cheeta is a big purring machine (my description) that doesn’t roar (her description LOL) and everyone had fun with that.
Lisa was up next and discussed co-writing and why she enjoys doing that, especially having a partner to work through the sticky points or when things stall and the partner can pick up the ball.
She, of course, answered questions about her fan fic, published under the name DiscontentedWinter. Full disclosure, I love her fan fic and pumped my fist when she said there will be more Sterek and Steter. Yes!
She also said there will be more in the Prescott college series and a Dark Space 3!
Rhys had her turn and discussed many of her series and their characters, the inspirations, and why she wants to write what she does. She also discussed her enjoying jumping around between writing books for different series in order to keep things fresh.
It was a fantastic session!
The rest of the day? Hanging out, enjoying each other’s company, and finally meeting some friends for the first time!
We also attended the Dine with an Author Luau and had a blast. We ended up at a table with Nicole Dennis and TJ Klune and we all laughed like it was going out of style. If you’re on social media at all, I’m sure you’ll see the pix and videos. 😉
Much Love and see you Tomorrow!
