Everyone assumes life’s one big party for Dionysus, but even the god of wine and orgies has problems. His anger management issues are out of control, and his siblings suggest a visit to the Eternal Library to find a cure. The library of the gods is a strange and confounding place, though, one that Dionysus has avoided for centuries, and his certainty that the library hates him is confirmed when a killer strikes during his visit.
Life as the only librarian is blissfully peaceful for Leander, giving him the security and quiet he so desperately needs. Considered a monster as a child, Leander’s memories of his imprisonment in the Labyrinth left deeply carved emotional scars. But when a young woman is murdered in his library, he needs to emerge from his self-imposed seclusion to help find the killer who might still stalk the hallways.
Forced to keep company with Dionysus, Leander swings between whether the unpredictable and charming little god will keep him safe or drive him to distraction before the killer is found.
I love this series. Have I said that before in a review? No, well I love this series! I love the unique way the author had turned mythology into something fun and creative and heartwarming.
Dio was a great character. Full of heart and squirrels. Such the perfect picture of the outward adult ADHD character while internally just wanting to be seen for who he is and to be loved without being asked to change. Yet, he did change as much as he was able for Leander. Things aren’t and won’t ever be perfect, but for these two men, it will be loving.
Leander was also a great character. So much stronger than he gave himself credit for. I loved the dichotomy of the physically strong being intelligent and shy. Of the outwardly monstrous being gentle and loving. And mostly, I loved that Leander was able to love Dio, flaws and all. And while he may not be comfortable with Dio’s needs, I loved that he was willing to work on overcoming his personal hangups to show Dio his love. Because face it, how many relationships in real life don’t take compromise of some sort!
I loved the Library! Can I have one? I loved it’s structure and it’s old world yet not feel. And I LOVED its staff. Jane Austen Panda’s, yes please can I have come more???
Angel Martinez continues to surprize and amaze me with her creativity and her funny, snarky, easy to read writing style. So when can we expect the next installment of this series?? Tomorrow? Oh that would be perfect!!!
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
