Former teen heart-throbs Mick and Tom used to be the leads in “Ghosts Among Us,” and besides acting together, they were also lovers. The stress of coming out and Mick’s alcoholism tore them apart. Now, ten years later, Mick wakes up in a drunk tank and Tom comes to pick up the pieces.
They have a lot to work through – Tom’s angst about coming-out, Mick’s drinking problem, and the ghosts of the past in between them. Fortunately they have loyal friends and a deep love for each other. Ghosts can’t keep them apart forever.
I’m a sucker for second chances stories so the blurb sold me from the get go. It was well written and enjoyable but I think making it novel length would’ve suited the story better.
I loved the idea of the ex-lovers having been stars of a beloved TV show and the main characters here were original. The story is told from the perspectives of both Mick and Tom, who were co-stars and young lovers.
Mick has become a drunk who is constantly getting in trouble. Tom has been acting more than Mick, but he’s also getting a divorce. Tom is forced by another former co-star to take care Mick and make sure he gets back on the wagon.
Mick and Tom obviously have feelings for each other and it doesn’t take long for them to reunite. This is where the story might’ve benefited from being full length. Yeah, it would’ve meant more conflict but I would’ve loved to see more of Mick and Tom together.
This was a short sweet story and worth a read.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
