Theater manager Teddy Carbone’s life has gone pretty much according to script… until now.
To his surprise, Teddy finds himself co-owner of the Oasis Theater with Carter Monroe, a corporate shark who’s looking at him like he’s chum in the water. Being in charge of the theater is one thing, but having to deal with Carter and his demands is another. With Carter’s proposed plan to sell the Oasis looming, Teddy must convince Carter the theater is worth saving. When Teddy introduces the bright, bold world of the stage to Carter’s cold, all-business lifestyle, though, he soon comes to recognize that the Oasis might not be the only thing he has a chance to save.
Unscripted has to be my favorite of the relationships in the Heartsville series. It is not my favorite topic-wise or humor-wise or even angst-wise, but Unscripted contains the love story I enjoyed the most. Why? Because this relationship was all kinds of fun and confusing and it was only the start of what promised to be a lifetime of laughter and love between these two men. The author gave the reader just enough romance to be appropriate for this novella length without the relationship becoming rushed or “instant.” This was the relationship that worked the best for me as a reader.
I also loved that Teddy was feisty while Carter was smooth and a bit arrogant. Their attraction was instant and HOT and Teddy’s mental commentary was quite humorous. It was so cute watching Teddy’s confusion as Carter slowly and without warning showed him he wanted more than just business partnership. These men had such differing personalities and lives that it was almost an enemies to lovers story but not quite. It was almost a comedy yet it still had a bit of depth. It was great fun and another great addition to the Heartsville world.
I would like to thank the author for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
