Nov.-11th

November 11th. That’s a date that most know as Veterans Day. In the United States we celebrate the men and women who have served this country. It is not to be confused with Memorial Day, which is a holiday to remember those who lost their lives fighting for this country.

The eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month of 1918, all major hostilities of World War I were ended, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. Which is why it used to be called Armistice Day, until it was expanded to include all who had served and not only those who fought in World War I.

I want to thank everyone out there who has served in the armed forces. It is because of you that I am able to do what I love.

In honor of Veterans Day a lot of places are offering free or discounted meals. Here’s a link to the list. Be sure to share it with the Veterans in your life.

Veterans Day was always my favorite holiday. Not only because there was a parade every year, but also because it is my birthday. So, I’m kind of partial to this date.

In the spirit of things, I’m going to do a giveaway. Two lucky winners will be picked at random.

Readers: you have a chance to win an ebook copy of your choice from my backlist.

Writers: you have your choice of either an ebook copy of your choice from my backlist or a critique/beta read from me.

All you have to do is leave a comment and be sure to check back tomorrow. I’ll announce the winners in the comments section. It’s that easy.

Do you have any Veterans Day memories? I’d love to hear them.

  1. Although we do not have it as a public holiday, we have a two minute silence and on this day in our country it is called Armistice Day and on the Sunday prior to this date we have Remembrance Sunday which commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts. In June there is a Armed Forces day held on a Saturday in June, where parades, parties and other celebrations occur.

    Happy Birthday by the way.
