In a perfect moment of cold November sunshine, pudgy accountant Kit Allen realizes Jesse, his new office assistant, is everything he’s ever dreamed about in a man. Feeling supremely unworthy and desperate to get a life—even an imaginary one—Kit embarks on a self-improvement campaign featuring DVD fitness guru, Danny Fit.
In the meantime, Jesse has begun a subtle campaign of his own, one designed to bring Kit out of his DVD dream world and into Jesse’s arms. Jesse isn’t perfect—he’s no Danny Fit—but he hopes that the kind, funny man who has been looking at him so soulfully since his first day at work has what it takes to be everything Jesse has always wanted.
OMG can I start of by saying that this story has the BEST line I have EVER read!!
And now Kit’s cock – which had mostly been used for taking a leak before that moment – woke up and screamed I WANT! FEED ME ASSHOLE! And Kit had given it a good handshake until it threw up.
I mean that quote right there should be enough for this to be the best story ever, but it was really only one small part of this cute yet meaningful Christmas story.
Kit was such a lonely, needy, hopeful, cute, adorable, geeky, nerdy, clueless character. I just wanted to wrap him up and eat him for breakfast! Well, no not really, but you know what I mean. I wanted to enfold him in love and tell him he is perfect just how he is! I wanted to help him move out of that toxic situation. I wanted to cheer when he told his mother what’s what! I wanted to be his friend.
And even though this was supposed to be Kit’s story, Jesse really stole the show at the end. For all his “experience,” Jesse was not as confident as he appeared. In fact, he was a little bit broken and in need of a “pudgy accountant” to love him back to being whole again. Kit may have been the virgin, but Jesse was the innocent. I love that even Amy Lane light has depth and has emotion and is full of things that keep me thinking and on my toes.
Finally, this story contained the second best quote ever!
I know that! You’re better than perfect. You’re you. You never hang your jacket up, I have to beg you to do the dishes, and your car is almost as disgusting on the inside as your roommate refrigerator. I don’t care. I love the real you!
This quote summarizes Jesse and Kit perfectly. They see through the bullshit to the real person inside and love each other all the more for it. I loved this story.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
