If Santa Claus could have one wish, what would it be?

Each century, Father Time selects a new Santa Claus. In return for his service, the lucky St Nick receives his heart’s greatest desire. Unfortunately, Matthew Carpenter is down to his last night as Santa and has no idea what his heart desires.

Short story previously released as part of the ‘Twas a Dark and Delicious Christmas, Manlove Edition anthology.

My View:

This review is going to be short and sweet, just like the story about which it is written. His Heart’s Desire is JP Barnaby’s only publication in 2015. It isn’t exactly a new story, as it was previously part of an anthology (‘Twas a Dark and Delicious Christmas, Manlove Edition), but it will be new for most readers, as that anthology was not widely read.

If you are a fan of JP Barnaby, you are probably used to having your heart ripped out and stomped on before she finally mends it and gives you the happy ending that isn’t always possible in real life. It is kind of her signature. His Heart’s Desire, however takes a little bit different path.

It is a sweet holiday story about moving forward and finding a new path, when the only one you have known is closed to you forever. I guess that doesn’t exactly sound like happiness and light, but for Barnaby it is downright saccharine (that isn’t a bad thing). It is a solidly written tale of one former Santa getting everything he wants after his years of serving the children of the world. It is the story of finding love where you didn’t realize it existed. It is the story of the holiday spirit.

JP you have a winner, I am just sad I waited this long to read it.
