Levi can remember the exact moment the projection of his life changed entirely, from homeless dropout to college graduate. It was the day he found Jamie Donovan standing on his front porch—the boy Levi had secretly drooled over from afar would become the best friend he secretly drooled over up close.
When Levi gets a full ride scholarship but Jamie doesn’t, Jamie becomes an exotic dancer to help pay his tuition. Watching Jamie perform is pure torture for Levi, and hiding how he really feels starts to take its toll. And when the hot new guy from his Econ class hits on him, Levi has to decide just how long he’s going to stay devoted to his straight best friend.
Two of my favorite things are guys with tattoos and friends-to-lovers stories. Say It With Ink has both of these things so I was hoping for a great story. While it was decent it was overly exciting.
Levi and Jamie have been friends for years with Levi hopelessly in love with his straight buddy. They have a sweet friendship and both make sacrifices for each other.
The timeline here kind of jumps around with big skips in time where we’re told what happened rather than being shown. That’s my biggest complaint—that so much of what happens is told.
I loved seeing Levi and Jamie together, but most of the time they are it’s not an extremely deep POV.
My biggest complaint is that Levi and Jamie didn’t get together until the end and thus I didn’t see them together as a couple.
This line made me want to see more:
“I’m not sure what to do here, Jamie.” Levi admitted, gripping the waistband of Jamie’s pants, not wanting to let him go after the kiss they’d just shared.
Hopefully we will see sill Levi and Jamie again in future stories.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
