From Great Danes to Pomeranians to polydactyl cats, in the rural town of Novi, Michigan, veterinarian Dr. Jaylin Meyers treats them all. But being brought up in the foster care system, she’s learned not to count on anyone staying around.
New vet tech Kristen Eckert has no time for a relationship. She’d much rather take care of horses, shoot skeet, or ride her Appaloosa. Their mutual attraction takes them both by surprise, and they are drawn into a relationship.
But Jaylin is frightened by the idea of relying on someone else and withdraws. When Kristen is injured in an auto accident, can Jaylin find the courage to risk her heart with Kristen or will she let her chance at love vanish forever?
A Wonderful Tail 😀
Doctor Jaylin is a veterinarian who has joined Dr Bill’s practice. He deals with the horses, she with the small animals. Kristin was Dr. Bill’s former vet tech and has agreed to help Jaylin settle in. Jaylin is afraid to get involved with anyone after an abusive relationship and her history of being abandoned. Kristin is coping with her ill father and her own life pressures. She is unwilling to be anything more than friends with benefits. Something Jaylin simply is not interested in. However, neither of them aren’t any good at keeping their mouths off of each other.
The lead character’s are sweet and realistic. I can understand their fears, their hopes and their struggles. The book was just the right amount of heavy and fluffy and balanced to make it work well. I enjoyed watching the character’s develop and grow as they gained strength and confidence. The story lines are great, the writing really sound, the flow is perfect and the danger bits just edgy enough to make you sit up and notice without making it too stressful. I very much admire this book and Ms. Popovich’s talent.
I will be getting her other book ASAP.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
