It’s only been three weeks since Henry woke up to discover his husband, Tom, had vanished. He’s still struggling to come to terms with his new reality when he receives a haunting phone call: “Henry. Help me.” It’s Tom’s voice, but Henry is afraid to believe. His world has already come crashing down around him twice in the last six months. Is Tom really alive, or is Henry losing his grip on reality?
It’s been five months since Henry Cooley woke up to find that his husband, Tom MacKinnon, had vanished. Henry has gone through hell and back since then trying to uncover what really happened. But nothing could prepare him for the truth.
Note there may be spoilers for the first book in Vanished trilogy contained below
I have decided to review books 2 and 3 of the Vanished series together for a reason. If you are anything like me, the first installment absolutely annihilated me. I was honestly scared to start book 2. After talking with the author at GRL in October, I decided to wait until Vanished 3 was in my hot little hands to read Vanished 2. Since I read them together, I am reviewing them together.
There are actually two separate mysteries in these two stories, but those mysteries are inexorably linked to one another. The main mystery, of course is the question of how and where Tom vanished to or if he is really dead. This is not an answer you will get one way or another until the very end.
Henry has quite the journey from learning the fate of his partner and husband of 21 years to the inevitable conclusion. It is exciting and heart wrenching. Quinn kept me turning to pages. I tore through all three books in about 3 hours. (I had to re-read book one and have my heart torn from my chest once again before delving into books two and three).
Seriously, you will not want to miss this series but have some tissues handy.
I would like to thank the author for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
