Vegas is a hot phone sex operator who knows just how to make your deepest, darkest fantasies come true either with a gentle whisper in your ear or with a rough growling command. When he’s in control, you know you’re in good hands. Vegas can tickle or scratch whatever itch or fetish a caller can throw at him.
But his job at the exclusive ‘Black Vanilla’ has its dark side, which becomes all too clear when Vegas receives a call one night that hits a little too close to home.
Somewhere out there, someone’s watching him. Someone who’s taken their fantasy one step too far. It isn’t long before Vegas finds himself entangled in a web of dark and dangerous obsession. An obsession that can only end one way.
“Dirty Talk” will take you deep into the world of stimulating oral desire and blur the lines that exist between our ultimate fantasies and harsh reality.
This has been difficult for me to rate when it came to my review as there were parts of the story that I really liked but other parts that I felt fell short.
The first half of the book is slow and didn’t keep my interest piqued and there was a huge amount of information dumped that wasn’t necessary to the story. It wasn’t always succinct either with POV changes faster than I could keep up with. My last grumble is that it needed further proofreading – there were a lot of simple errors that could have easily been cleaned up.
Dirty Talk introduces us to Vegas West raised in the South by his grandmother but now trying to make it as best he can in New York. He has nothing but dreams when he arrives in the city but luck is on his side when he meets London who becomes his best friend. He also meets Bronx an extremely wealthy man who becomes his lover for a year.
When Bronx turns into someone Vegas no longer recognises and actually starts to fear he turns to his best friend London for support. He starts working at Black Vanilla as a sex chat operator and for a while his life is good, he is surrounded by friends and for the most part he is having fun. Then he gets a weird call on the chat line, a call that appears to be very personal and designed to rattle him, and everything goes to hell.
Someone is after Vegas and that someone seems to be fuelled by hatred. There are so many people that Vegas suddenly finds himself not trusting that it makes his head spin. This part of the story is excellent. The author did a superb job of keeping you guessing almost until the end then completely blows away any theories you may have had. Before you are given all the facts there is murder and mayhem. After you have been given all the facts there is a real WTF moment! I’m still confused over the ending and I’m left wondering if that was really the end or whether there will be more to come.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
