What do you get when you combine a powerful immortal witch with an immortal warrior of the Gods in holy matrimony? An indestructible team.
Nira who was once a vampire made a pact with the Gods to fight the evil, and in return, she would regain her humanity and become an immortal warrior for the Gods.
Stephanie, who had just come into her powers, teamed up with Nira to destroy the chaos that reigned terror upon the streets. As promised the Gods bestowed immortality upon her.
Nira, along with her life partner Stephanie, had fought hard for centuries to keep the evils of the world abet. Coming full circle, history repeats itself, vengeance being the end game.
Pitted against time itself, they fervently search for the sources of evil. What they find in the darkness could destroy all hope for the future.
Tiffany is a twenty one year old vampire who has left the human world for the solitude of an inhabited island. One day Nira, a worrier to the Gods finds her island and is not willing to leave. She also wishes solitude after leaving the lovely witch Stephanie, to whom she has pledged her heart. In time Tiffany and Nira become lovers but when Tiffany falls in love Nira leaves to return to Stephanie. Tiffany vows to kill the witch and claim Nira for herself. The Gods are not pleased with this and send a servant to chain her and enclose her in a tomb for all of eternity.
Two Hundred years later Tiffany is able to escape and prepares herself for revenge on the servant and to carry out her plan to destroy Stephanie. Only now Nira and Stephanie are married with a small child….
The tension and suspense in this book have my stomach in knots, my legs bouncing uncontrollably and my fingernails are mere memories. I’m scared, anxious and worried. I keep thinking Ms Carter will give me a Happily Ever After but oh Goddess, what if she doesn’t? Surely they can’t all come out alive… I can not read anymore its too much… but I can’t stop! I’ve come to far to stop now. I’m afraid I am in for an all night read…
Ok, forgive the bout of nerves. I’ve finished and WHEW!!! That was some ride. I really could not put the book down for longer than a few minutes. It is so addicting and consuming. This story was intense with lots of amazing characters and action. There are seven dynamic main characters, two minor characters and a host of Gods, ghosts and vampire baddies. That’s a pretty big cast but they are all important to the plot. There was a lot of history between the four main “good” characters and it was interesting to see them put aside differences to try to work together. I’ve also never seen a book like this include a young child witch before, it was a wonderful twist. Another thing I really liked was the visions and dreams the characters have. They put me on the edge of my seat more than once.
This was a wonderful read and I highly recommend it. I would really like to see these women have another adventure, maybe when the little girl grows up a bit…
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
