It’s been five years since Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett first worked together to solve the Tri-State murders, and time has been both harsh and kind. Engaged now, they face the challenge of planning a deeply uncertain future together. Zane is at the pinnacle of his career with one last mystery to solve, while Ty is at sea in a world where he’s no longer the tip of a spear.
There’s just one more hurdle in the way of their happy ever after: a traitor from their inner circle who threatens to burn their world to the ground.
Squeezed between the Vega cartel, an unknown mole, and too many alphabet agencies to count, Ty and Zane must gather all their strength and resources to beat the longest odds they’ve ever faced. To make it out alive, they’ll need help from every friend they’ve got. Even the friends who might betray their trust.
I’m really torn on this one. On the one hand I love these guys and loved seeing them again. I loved that Ty and Zane were finally officially forever. I loved that their love was still so clear and so touching. I even loved the way their wedding was on their terms and their vows were perfectly Ty and Zane. These men continue to be that couple that I will love and remember for eternity.
I just struggled with the way this book felt so disjointed and chaotic. Every time I felt like I got a grasp on who was who and what was what, another twist appeared and I was lost again. Granted, a good bit of the time the mystery was good and kept me interested, but as the story progressed things just become more and more over the top and confusing. I was never able to really feel like things were explained well or that I understood why things happened as they did.
I loved the conclusion of Ty and Zane. And I loved the forward movement of the sidewinders, but I wish this story wasn’t so all over the place. I’m also confused over whether this was the end or not as the ending felt abrupt and open ended. Also, will we ever get to understand Bell as a man and why he kept popping in and out as he did? If this was the end of Ty and Zane’s books, I hope these remaining questions are answered in Nick and Kelly’s books.
J.F. Harding did another great job on this narration. He embodied this series and I will always associate him with Ty and Zane. If there are more books in this series, I hope J.F. Harding continues to narrate the audiobooks.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the audiobook of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
