Yellowstone Wolves: Book Two
Fredrik is back from college and trying to stay out of his power-hungry brother’s way, until his brother takes a prisoner for his pleasure. Unable to tolerate his family’s cruelty, Fredrik overcomes his fear to help her escape back to her pack. There, he meets Christopher, and their instant attraction tells him Christopher is the one. However, since the threat of his brother remains, Fredrik is reluctant to pursue a relationship.
Christopher is still figuring out his place in the pack and has been living on his own to avoid making waves with his brother, Mikael. Now he’s met his soulmate, and he’ll do anything to take care of his love, including rejoining the pack.
With coaxing, Fredrik accepts his feelings, and Christopher’s pack gives him the home he’s never had. But Fredrick soon realizes he should keep running. His brother is on his tail and will stop at nothing to obtain the power he craves, especially when he realizes the source of the power could be Fredrik himself.
If you read this blog with any regularity you probably know that I absolutely adored the first book in Dirk Greyson’s Yellow Stone Wolves series, Challenge the Darkness. It one of my rare 5* books. While I don’t think Darkness Threatening had quite the impact of Challenge the Darkness, it is still a worthy follow-up and a fabulous HEA for Chris, the disassociated younger brother of the Old Faithful pack’s Alpha.
We met Chris when he returned home from College and couldn’t find a place in the pack for himself. Since that time he has been pulling further and further away from his family. His pack. He needs something, or someone, to give him a reason to be a reason to rejoin his family. Fredrik is just that wolf.
If there was ever a wolf that didn’t belong to his family, it is Fredrik. The son of the now-deceased former alpha and half-brother to the current alpha, neither of whom are good men by any stretch, he is sweetness, light, and fairness. Three traits neither his father nor his half-brother possessed. He is scared but knows what is right and does it regardless of his fears. He has all the good his father and half-brother lack.
When Fredrick turns up at the Old Faithful pack, he is met with a mixed reaction. He has to overcome his own fears and the fears of those around him. He also has to win the trust and heart of his fated mate. More importantly, Chris (said fated-mate), has to prove to Fredrick that he is needed and is meant to stay.
There are a few things I didn’t understand in this book. I don’t want to name them for fear of spoilers, but I will say that I think I might catch the explanations upon re-read — which I will do before book three comes out. Speaking of book three, I sincerely hope that book three gives us a happily ever after and a certain couple that kinda, sorta, maybe hooked up in this installment.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
