There’s no way he’ll shake this off…

Trevor Daniels is feeling aimless. A recent college grad, he’s not sure what to do with his useless degree, and his family all but abandoned him after he revealed the truth about himself. But a friend’s suggestion that he take his chances on a reality show aimed at finding the next big boy band strikes a chord with him—until the show’s producers convince him to act like he’s in a relationship with a guy who’s not at all his type. It isn’t exactly love at first sight for Jalen Smith either—but lust just might push them in an unexpected direction. If only their secrets weren’t even more twisted than their sheets, threatening to cost them the win—and each other…

My View:

Trevor figures he has nothing to lose accepting a place on another talent show when he is just weeks away from being homeless. Trying to come to terms with a life changing illness he chose to be honest with his extremely religious family about his sexuality wrongly believing they would love him just for who he was. It backfired drastically and he was told not to come home again.

Trevor finds himself in a group with a couple who look more like twins and who he instantly doesn’t get along with and a jock called Jalen who is to be his pretend boyfriend for six weeks. Add to that they are being sold as cutesy, adorable and they have to wear pastels he has to keep reminding himself that this really is the last resort.

Both Trevor and Jalen have issues and are quick to jump to conclusions, usually the wrong ones. Trevor is so desperate to make this work, to get another six weeks reprieve before he has to start sorting out his life that he plays a very dangerous game with his health. Jalen isn’t sure why but he feels protective over Trevor and soon works out what his health problems are. For Jalen this is perfect, he needs to feel necessary and useful, so helping Trevor stay well works.

The biggest issues they have to face as they lose the pretend part of their relationship is the way Trevor views himself and how he views and treats sex, boy his family have left him in a muddle. Jalen isn’t looking for a quick hook up, he actually values Trevor and what they do together and this is something that Trevor really struggles with.

They work a little like therapy on each other and slowly as Trevor opens up and becomes more confident and less snarky they realise that they actually make quite a good group, he even becomes friendlier with Carter and Carson, the other loved up couple that make up their foursome.

There are a few more hurdles than just their singing that these guys must get over but mixed in with that are some hot and kinky moments, twins who aren’t really related who are much more likeable in the second part of the book, and a bible preaching brother intent on saving Trevor’s soul.
