Winter’s love is blood and chaos…but fire isn’t all that smolders at Summer’s heart.

To claim Bran forever, Macsen has begun the ancient ritual of sidhe courtship—but such a rite is a trial in more ways than one. Tradition requires that Macsen seek Bran’s favor in his own country, and a Summer courtship is teasing and promising. More than that, Summer’s Queen will come between Macsen and her son however she can.

Despite his mother’s disapproval, Bran’s will is bent to the same purpose as Macsen’s—the achievement of four proofs of love, proofs that only Bran can determine or acknowledge. One step at a time, they come closer to a day when nothing will be able to separate them—but a familiar foe is more than willing to try.

In the mortal world, the year has continued to pass without a hint of green. The Green King has prevented the spring, and thus all seasons but winter. Still, it’s Macsen whom Dealla blames, and all her plans for violent retribution are directed at him. Failure may cost her everything, but that is a price she has long been willing to pay.

In the wake of her invasion, Macsen is left with a dilemma that might not be easy to solve. Love, or vengeance—which should he choose? Can they live together in the same heart?

My View:

OOOO this series is getting so good! Things are heating up and the war it about to hit maximum intensity! I am so invested in the outcome at this point I am DYING for the next book. Good thing I have it in my hands already because I HAVE to know what happens! I have to know how the eight kingdoms will progress and if they will ever see balance restored! I HAVE to know more about Macsen and what Bran truly is!

Ms. Burke has taken myths and legends and brought them to life in such a spectacular manner. I don’t have enough words to say how awesome I think this series has become. I am in love with everything about it. This book was so dark and menacing but yet it was so loving and emotional. The overarching plot has intensified and the mystery on how things will be resolved has grabbed hold of me. There are so many questions left to answer and I am loving the way each book builds up to the final culmination.

Ms. Burke has also taken a romance and twisted it in such a way that has become a mix of so many warring ideas that should not work so well together. Macsen and Bran are so in love with each other that is is all consuming and intensely erotic. These men are so dark and wicked together, yet at the same time they are fierce and passionate. And under all those things is a true love connection that is tender and complete. God I love reading about these two together. I usually have a hard time with books that use so much sex to show true love, but Ms. Burke has nailed it and OMG I want more and more and more. I could feel these two men and their soul bond. It was AMAZING.

I can’t wait for the next book because I need more of these men and I need to know what happens after that ending!
