I don’t usually dare go near politics. I’m not well-versed enough to want to dip my toe in the controversial pool that government inhabits, quite frankly, and religion is something I steer clear of completely if I can.

Having said that, Donald Trump…

As far as I was aware, he was just a bloke with a bad wig, a collection of trophy wives and more money than sense. But the next President of one of the biggest and most influential nations on the planet? Seriously? No, you’re having a laugh – where’s Ashton? What? We’re not being punk’d?

I posted something on my FB wall yesterday and I meant every word of it. “If Donald Trump is elected we are all, quite frankly, buggered.”

He and his racist followers obviously seem to think he is the second coming and maybe they’re right. But not quite in the way they imagine. If you ask me, with his policies and his outdated and outrageous racist tendencies, all that’s missing is a stupid moustache and a swastika!

I know there are some who will say that I’m not American so it shouldn’t concern me but, to be perfectly honest guys, the thought that this man in control with as much power as the President, scares the crap out of me. Because American or not, if this idiot gets in, we are all in big, big trouble.

What are your thoughts?

  1. I’m just so happy that I don’t live in America, what is happening with Trump is quite scary people will actually vote for him?!!!

  2. It is scary!! I keep waiting for it to be outed as a big, bad joke…It is also very embarrassing for those of us living in the US.

  3. I’m not sure who is scarier… Trump or Cruz. They both give ‘religion’ a bad name. Their interpretations and actions aren’t much different from those of Isis, the Nazi’s or the KKK. Either you agree with them or you’re the enemy.

  4. I shudder to think what will happen if Trump is voted into leadership. I keep waiting for him to eventually drop out but so far that doesn’t look like it will happen…

  5. I am American & the thought that someone as blatantly bigoted as Trump could actually lead this country makes me quake in fear. We certainly do not need to go backwards in our mentality. *shudder*

  6. I had dinner with 2 colleagues last week in another Midwestern city where we were working on the same project. One gentleman is Indian, in his 40s, and has lived here for more than 20 years and has raised his family here. The other young man isn’t even 25 yet, and his background is Filipino – 2nd generation born in the US and visited the Philippines for the first time last year. Both of these guys are looking at me saying that they are genuinely afraid that Trump might be elected and they would need to leave the country because it might be unsafe for them. This makes me absolutely SICK that these two exemplary people are feeling this way! I’m so lucky to work for a company that walks the talk – we genuinely believe that we are all stronger together – that our diverse backgrounds and experiences make us better than our competitors. My life is all the richer because of the wonderful people I have met and worked with and become friends with over the years – people from all corners of the world. I can only hope the electorate comes to its senses and realizes the fear and division and hatred being sown will result in nothing but disaster. And Lisa, you are right – not only for us in the US but for the rest of the world as well. Unfortunately there seem to be a large number of people in this country who truly believe the world ends at our borders. Quite sad really.
