Eager to escape the shadows of a tragic loss, Diego built a new life with his best friend, Beck. When he finally decided one night to admit that he’s in love with Beck, that new life takes a new, hot and happy turn. But happiness is easily shattered, as he’s learned all too well, and this time it’s ruined by the arrival of a mysterious package and the arrival of men bent on violence.

Memories of a dead brother and an untouchable drug lord rise inevitably to the surface, and Diego dreads that the man he loves is mired in the world that Diego tried to escape. But Beck’s secrets aren’t so simple, and neither is the world in which Diego has been living…

My View:

Note: Lexi Ander has informed me that all but one of my issues have been addressed in the final manuscript so you shouldn’t have to worry about the artifacts or editing! Enjoy 😀

So, I recently reread the first edition of this story to see what, if anything had changed in the second edition. I really enjoyed the first edition upon my first reading and liked it even more on my second so was looking forward to reading it for a third time.

This edition, however, is heavily re-edited, rearranged and slightly expanded. It takes us longer to get to the action and so the story feels a little more drawn out and not as dynamic. More happens, but I felt it lost some of the compact, edge of your seat, energy the first edition held. As well the text contained quite a few artifacts left from the editing and rearranging process; things being known before they are mentioned, other things referenced as if they are unknown when they’ve been stated.

However, the story itself is still great! I liked getting more of Diego’s backstory – that was one thing I missed from the first edition. I loved Diego even more and we see more of the connection between him and Beck. Denise plays a greater role and she is awesome. The paranormal world is just being shown to us but the hints are insightful and provide a good foundation for the series.

The sex was stellar – Ohh the dirty talk and dominance in the bedroom! Lexi can write steamy scenes. There is only the one, but it is enough!

So while I was a little disappointed in the editing of this second edition, I did like most of the changes and I loved the story! I can’t wait for the next book.
