He might be hard to work for, but he’s impossible to resist.
Sasha Sobieski has the perfect job working at legendary American fashion house Harrison Kingsley—or at least he used to. He just never thought he’d have to work for Harrison Kingsley himself. Harrison is exacting, difficult, cold, and hands-down the sexiest man Sasha has ever seen.
After years at the top, Harrison Kingsley knows what he wants, when he wants it, and exactly how he’d like it to be delivered to him. What he wants most right now? His new assistant. Sasha is mouthy, opinionated, and he drives Harrison mad. Problem is, Harrison can never tell if it’s with anger… or desire.
I’m not sure how I felt about this story. I liked the premise and I liked Sasha. He was a good character with a lot of potential and I loved the way he stood up for himself, most of the time. And I liked the potential I saw in Harrison. There were times I could really see this story turning into something grand with Harrison’s true self shining through and all ending up happy. BUT, it never happened. Harrison was so hurtful to Sasha that I never felt he deserved Sasha. Harrison was never redeemed in my eyes so while the ending left me warm and fuzzy, it did not leave me satisfied.
I loved the idea of this story, but I am not sure I enjoyed the overly slow and rather bland execution (though I think the narration may have had a bit to do with that). I gave this one three stars for potential but wish it would have been more memorable.
This narration was strange. The voices sounded weird and the emotions were not always on the money in my opinion. Rusty Topsfield got the story across and it wasn’t a bad listening experience, but I wonder if a different narrator would have been better.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the audiobook of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
