Just as the seasons change, so do people.
After eighteen years together, Sidney Wilks and Grady Nash thought their bond was unbreakable, but they are about to discover it takes a lot of work to make a relationship last.
The death of his surrogate father followed by an irreparable fight with his long-time friend threatens to pull Sidney down into an abyss of depression. When Nash suggests getting away for a much-needed vacation, Sidney eventually agrees, believing it will give him time to heal. Unfortunately, the sun-filled cruise only serves to drive a wedge between him and the man he loves.
Back to their daily lives, Sidney buries himself in work, eventually accepting a partnership at Creative Solutions. As rewarding as his new position is, it further drives Sidney and Nash apart. Although his love for Nash never wavers, Sidney begins to wonder if Nash is tiring of him.
Faced with a life-altering decision, it will take the friend he thought he’d lost to make Sidney realise his future was written years earlier when a man named Nash befriended him.
Reader Advisory: This book is the last in a four-part series and should be read in order of sequence.
I want to start off by admitting that the final book in this series was nothing like I was expecting based on the blurb. The blurb was not even close to representing what actually happened, and while I hate that the blurb was just wrong, I was so very glad that it was.
I have very much enjoyed seeing Sidney and Nash grow as men and as a couple over the years. Winter may be the end of this series, but it will not be the end of these men in my life. Their story was so rich and impactful that I will be revisiting them again when I am in need of something more than just the typical HEA.
It was and has always been difficult for me to watch Sidney and Nash struggle, to watch the self inflicted as well as external influences drive these men to behave stupidly. But this time, I was actually worried that something would happen to finally break these men. For the first time, I was actually on the edge of my seat waiting for the worst to come true. God it was painful and emotional. I struggled not to cry so many times. Not only for Sidney and Nash, but for Josh and Sidney, and for Maggie and the family. I didn’t think it was possible, but this story took my emotions to an all new level and left me drained.
I am so very sad to see this series end, but I am ever so grateful to Ms. Lynne for writing these men and their stories. The HEA is always wonderful, but it is even better to see how the HEA lasts through the years.
Note Adriana’s view covers all 4 novellas in the series
The books in this series titled Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter follows forty years in the lives of two men, Sidney Wilks and Grady Nash, from the Spring of their relationship through to the Winter of their relationship when thirty years of being a couple have begun to wear thin.
As one who has read every book by this wonderful author at least twice, I adore this series. It starts off in book one as you see how they fell in love with each other and you will fall in love with them. Even though I read the entire series, which you must do in order, I will admit to books one and four being my favorites. Over the course of the series, you will see this wonderful partnership truly put to the test. You will see our boys weather everything from love and hate to lies and betrayal. These boys truly go to hell and back, but each time their love saves them and they become stronger and more devoted to each other than before. There were times I was screaming at one or both of them to walk away from each other. Yet there were just as many times that I was crying utterly amazed at what their love could endure and praying that I could have a love half as pure and deep as these two men. These two men have to learn to truly rely upon and trust one another. I felt at times as though they needed someone to show them (even in the last book) that the thing they had been searching for their entire lives for was right in front of them and they needed to realize that they were supposed to be there for each other. To build each other up not beat them down. If you are looking for a new series to binge read grab a box of tissues, these books and settle in. You will not regret it. A definite must read.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
