This month it was my intention to write a post about the importance, risks, and power of labels. I’ve been noodling it for weeks because of numerous life happenstances my brain is weaving together, but that will have to wait because my wrists need to rest. Carpel tunnel has been flaring, and with the added weakness that came with it this time, I’ve been busy finding non-writing, non-computer things to do instead.
I’m heading to the GayRomLit retreat as a Featured Author this year!
If you don’t know what GRL is, it’s the yearly get together for lovers of gay romance. This year the conference will be held in Kansas City, MO. I’m hoping to be on a panel with two of my long-time author friends, but until that’s solidified, I’d better keep my lips shut. I will most likely be driving down there and making a Thelma & Louise type trip with an author and reader friend as well, so watch out Iowa and Missouri! We will change you. 😉 So that’s in November.
In June a bunch of upper Midwest authors have decided to get a table together for Twin Cities Pride. That’s still very much in the planning stages, but I’m excited to spend the festivities with local authors. Many of us have been getting together a few times a year for lunch, but this longer time working Pride will be fun.
Aside from that, my life has been taken over with healing. Everyday is better, and the need to use different muscles than normal means I’m getting a lot of physical work done around the house, and trust me, my house and my butt needed me to move. 😉 Right now I’m refinishing furniture and sorting through toys and old clothes. This has been spring break week but the weather has not cooperated aside from one day last weekend where I pretty much turned into a sun worshipper. Today there was snow. Blergh! I hate April for this very reason.
I have more editing jobs than I ever thought I’d have, thanks to authors recommending me to others. As much as I enjoy being able to put some money in the bank, it takes time from my own writing, so I’m slowly trying to revamp how I handle my very precious writing time. I’ve also helped my friend start up her business, making her logo, website, Facebook page, and even doing some of the hard labor. I’ve been going with my kid for bagels and juice as often as I can and doing other sorts to things that are taking precedence over words on a page.
But I’ll be back and hopefully writing about more writerly stuff. I needed the break, however. This as been refreshing working away from the keyboard. Now, I have a man impatiently waiting on me with a Star Wars movie in the other room. Enjoy your lives, humans. 🙂
About Posy RobertsPosy Roberts writes about romantic male love. Whether her characters are family men, drag queens, or lonely men searching for connections, they all find a home in her stories.
Posy is married to a man who makes sure she doesn’t forget to eat or sleep; her daughter, a budding author and dedicated Whovian, helps her come up with character names. When Posy’s not writing, she enjoys crafting, hiking, and singing spontaneously about the mundane, just to make normal seem more interesting.
