He’s hot. He’s dangerous. And he can’t remember anything.
As the owner of Apple’n Pies, Joe Applin leads a quiet, uneventful life, content to spend his days serving customers who come from all over to eat his delicious homemade pies. Along with his motley crew—Bea, Elsie, and Donnie—Joe couldn’t be happier in his little kingdom of baked goods and java.
Experience has taught Joe that love is overrated—and at times dangerous. He has no intention of repeating past mistakes. But then he meets a mysterious, handsome man with amnesia, and Joe can’t deny something sweet is in the works. He isn’t one to take risks, not with his heart and certainly not with his life, but the more time he spends with the man he knows as Tom, the closer he is to losing both.
Forgive and Forget is the first Dreamspun Desires title from Dreamspinner Press that I have read. I was really excited for this line of books ever since I saw the concept. I loved Harlequin romance novels growing up and wanted to see what this imagining of them would be. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but still enjoyable.
Although there was one scene that seemed straight out of a bad sitcom, where I could almost hear the laugh track playing in my head, the rest read like an HBO television show: quirky characters, a little humour, some action, a mystery, and sex. The overall tone was sugar sweet and, despite the menacing action, light.
I liked Joe and his motley crew. The situation seemed highly improbable though. “Tom” was a huge mystery although I had my suspicions which proved to be correct. I liked them together and the ending was great.
Parts of the book were cheesy, however, I did enjoy it and will definitely pick up more in this line of novels to see if the others work as well.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
