In Inferno, passion burns hotter than hell…
After the murder of a notorious rent boy in the relatively new gay nightclub Inferno, Moonlight Cove cop Zack Stewart and his partner Claire Keaton are presented with a bewildering array of suspects, all with links to the dead man.
Zack’s chief suspect is arrogant club owner Dante Jardine, a man not so easy to unravel, and even more difficult to pin down. Soon the cops are knee-deep in bodies and Zack’s priorities become more muddled the longer he is around Dante.
When his professional and personal lives begin to merge, Zack finds himself walking a dangerous road between being a good cop and giving in to his growing desire…
This is without a doubt one of the most intense thriller/mystery reads in this genre that I have come across and that could keep my attention right up until the end.
Nothing is clear – you are never sure what will happen with Zack and Dante and you certainly can’t work out who is killing everyone off or why. I read the first edition of this book all the way back in 2012 – I loved it then and I still love it now.
Dante Jardine is an ex-cop turned nightclub owner with a past that makes him cold and unreachable. He goes to work every day and to wind down he fucks. No kissing, no cuddling and no conversation because that isn’t what Dante does – he fucks often and with whoever offers strongly believing he is not worth anything else. His club Inferno seems to be the latest playground for a serial murder who is targeting a group of gay men who all appear linked to each other.
Zack Stewart is a closeted cop who is brought in to solve the first murder with his partner Claire. Zack has an immediate visceral reaction to Dante when they first meet, he doesn’t know whether he wants to fight or fuck, so instead chooses to make him his number one suspect and hound him until he has enough evidence for an arrest.
The story is full of very clever twists and turns and it is extremely difficult to work out who is guilty when most of the suspects keep turning up dead. Dante and Zack can’t stay away from each other regardless of how it affects the case and when they are together they are hot! Zack is determined to crack through Dante’s hard outer shell but to do that they must both stay alive and that’s not an easy task.
If mystery and complicated men are your thing then Inferno may just be for you.
