The secret is keeping busy and loving what you do ~ Lionel Hampton
A couple weekends ago, a friend loaned me a copy of Mary Kay Ash’s 1994 autobiography. I started reading it on Friday night, just to get my big toe wet. Like any other writer/reader of MM romance, I have tons of novels on my Kindle and iBooks, and I’ve been searching for some other reading lately. I have a few library books and Kindle books along the Mary Kay book as well, but I think most understand my point. I have plenty to read, but chose to check that out. I planned to get started and thought it would be a book I read a chapter here and chapter there until I got to the last 50 pages and then I’d “binge” my way through the rest of it.
(That’s how I do fiction sometimes, especially when trying to get a beta read done. I might try to read a couple of chapters here, there, but once I get to certain point, I concentrate on getting it done.)
Anyway, I ended up finishing the 200 page book over the weekend. I was enthralled, it captured my attention. I found a couple of pearls of wisdom and some motivation, for which I was searching. When I brought it back to my co-worker on Monday, she asked, “Did you do anything else this weekend?” to which I replied, “A few other things, but I enjoyed reading it so much, I just got through it!”
My point: keep busy loving what you do! I’ve been spending the weekends reading and that’s helpful for me right now.
What are your reading this Spring? I’d love to hear!
I’ll go first, I am reading A Tested Love by Kayla Jameth, what about you?
