And that, my love, is bravery ~ Outside the Margins with Sue Brown

Join Prism Book Alliance® as Sue Brown goes Outside the Margins today.

I don’t discuss family much beyond a few snippets, but there was a time when nasty demons came to stay in our house for a couple of years. Every day one of the Browns woke up to face the demons that haunted them all day and most of the night. It wasn’t just them that suffered. It was all of us, not knowing what the forthcoming day was going to be like, and we still bare the scars from that time. I discovered how damn brave my family member was, trying hard to function on days they’d rather curl up in their bed and never move again. We got very little (no) support, from any authority, medical or otherwise. In the UK my family member wasn’t bad enough to be dealt with so he slipped through the cracks. Fortunately those days are behind us. Bad days are few and far between, and the good days shine. I live with the worry that something may bring the demons back, but fingers crossed, they keep away from our front door.

I see a lot of friends on social media suffering from depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. They have to function with the demons that live them so tired every single day. I want to tell them how much I admire them just for getting through each day. For getting out of bed. For knowing the days when they should stay in bed.

This is bravery. I know that because the demons give no quarter.
