New Colorado Protectorate fell with the assassination of Chancellor Clarke. Afterwards, like many others, Todd and Nick Ruger left the land of their birth and made a home up north in Yellowknife. Though they have to say a sad farewell to friends and loved ones, they are taken in with open arms and in turn offer shelter to others.
They must still contend with angry ghosts, Windigos, and water spirits, but through it all, their love and devotion for each other never falters. Nick is awarded a degree in veterinary medicine and trains students from Yellowknife, while Todd becomes the town sheriff and takes on new sentry apprentices of his own. They remain steadfast in their duty as sentries as well, leaving a legacy meant to protect and defend those who need it the most.
Ringed Love is the conclusion to the Sentries series. It starts far in the future from the end of the last book and then looks back over the years since the fall of the New Colorado Protectorate.
While I liked seeing how things turned out for Todd and Nick, this book seemed more like a series of short stories than one novel. I enjoyed the individual parts, even the more gruesome than normal one about Wendigoes, and was happy to see the pair remain steadfast with each other.
We see Nick finally come into his own and blossom while Todd is as strong as ever. There are some sad developments with the loss of key people but some closure is obtained.
This book has less of the BDSM elements than previous books, but the love scenes were still good and meaningful.
I’m not sure if I liked the end or not. I was very poetic and romantic but a little sad. I can’t say more without spoilers, but it is no doubt an end.
I’ve enjoyed this series for the most part and was glad that Todd and Nick got their happily-ever-after.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
