Selena Miller accepts a job in Wolfgang County, jumping at the chance to get away from her overbearing family. Crippled by anxiety, she’s determined to start a new, independent life.
As Second of the Wolfgang pack, Caden Wolfgang is used to having her orders followed without question. When the Alpha allows a human to work in the heart of their business, Caden is horrified. Haunted by a childhood tragedy at the hands of a human, Caden makes it her mission to keep Selena from threatening everything they’ve built.
When contempt turns into attraction and passion flares, can their love survive Selena learning the truth of what the Wolfgangs really are?
Emotionally abused by her family, Selena jumps at the chance to get away by taking a job for Venator in Wolfgang County. Caden is second in command at Venator and is none too happy to have an outsider come to work for the company, especially in her department. As Cade gets to know Lena she begins to have strong feelings for the girl and it is not one sided. With a mortal enemy on the loose and looking for revenge, can Cade and the others keep their families safe or will tragedy strike before Cade and Lena can begin a relationship? What will Lena say and do when she finds out the secret of Cade’s and all of Wolfgang County? To find out you must read the book and I will tell you that you will be glad you did, its a great story.
I could really feel the pain Lena’s family inflicted on her. She was so insecure and self loathing, full of anxiety and yet she was strong enough to break away and stand up for herself when she feels like Cade is trying to control her. I also really like how quickly the lone wolf took to Lena, doing her best to help the young woman’s confidence while desperately fighting her attraction.
The secondary characters were wonderful as well. They were so important to the story. They offered support, love and helped Lena settle into Wolfgang county, showing her how different this place was to any other. A place where she was free from the disapproval of her birth family and where she was treated as a member of the community, accepted by everyone.
There really isnt anything I did not like about this book, including the open ending that leaves room for a sequel should Ms Frame desire. I am very happy to have added this book to my collection.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
