A Midsummer Malaise ~ Outside the Margins with Andrew Q Gordon

Join Prism Book Alliance® as Andrew Q Gordon goes Outside the Margins today.

I’m really not a summer weather person. The heat saps my energy. I become grumpy (More grumpy if you ask my husband.) And I struggle to do more than sit quietly and either read or do a puzzle.

This malaise extends to being creative. Since June 15th when I submitted Child of Night and Day to DSP Publications, I’ve managed about 5K on book 5. (Sorry Brandilyn, I’ll try to write faster.) I know, that’s not very productive. And it extends to monthly guest posts as well.

There are things I’d like to write about – like all the shootings – but I’m not comfortable wading into that. There’s the election – ho boy, I’m definitely NOT going there. I could talk about what I’m writing, but as I’ve said, I’m pretty much at a crawl, wouldn’t be too entertaining would it?

Now, lest this turn into one of those papers we all wrote in high school or college where we had to meet a minimum word count and I start throwing in fluff to fill the column, I decided to turn this into an interactive post. I’ll tell you what I’m reading, if you tell me what you’re reading. Kinda like that old game, “I’ll show you mine, if you show me yours,” only much cleaner.

I’ll break mine down into those I’ve recently read and those I plan to read very soon.

Those I’ve read recently:

Superhero; by Eli Easton.

Flying Solo; by Susan Mac Nicol

Bombs and Guacamole; by BA Tortuga

Sutphin Boulevard; by Santino Hassell

Pilgrimage; by Kim Fielding

Bolt Hole; by Amy Lane.

Things to be read: (My TBR pile is MUCH longer than this list, but these are the five I plan to read next – in no particular order:

The Necromancer’s Dance & Dilemma; by SJ Himes (yes, that’s technically two, but I’m counting it as one.)

The last two book in the Wolf’s Own, series by Carol Cummings (yes, cheating again by slipping in two for one.)

Anthony; by JP Barnaby

Debt; by K.C. Wells

Lime Gelatin and Other Monster; by Angel Martinez

So those are mine. Not that I need to make my TBR list any longer, but I am a curious sort. Leave yours in the comment section if you would.

Until then, stay cool. I know I’m going to try my best to do the same.

About Andrew Q Gordon

AQGLogo Full Size Enjoy The Journey![/caption]

Andrew Q. Gordon wrote his first story back when yellow legal pads, ball point pens were common and a Smith Corona correctable typewriter was considered high tech. Adapting with technology, he now takes his MacBook somewhere quiet when he wants to write.

He currently lives in the Washington, D.C. area with his partner of twenty years, their young daughter and dog. In addition to dodging some very self-important D.C. ‘insiders’, Andrew uses his commute to catch up on his reading. When not working or writing, he enjoys soccer, high fantasy, baseball and seeing how much coffee he can drink in a day.
