From animosity to searing passion in a lunar cycle… but can their bond survive?
Wolf shifter Nathan Kohl’s pack is his whole life. Arrogant and handsome, he avoids commitment to anything or anyone outside of his pack. He works hard, plays hard, and pursues humans as lovers because there’s little to no chance of him forming a permanent bond. However, when Jared Taylor comes into Nathan’s life, every rule is broken.
After a bad experience, Jared vowed to never get involved with another shifter, no matter how much they got under his skin. Despite being physically attracted to Nathan, who’s all kinds of hot, Jared only sees an arrogant, domineering bastard.
A disastrous case of mistaken identity throws Nathan and Jared together until the next full moon. Forced to spend the next twenty-eight days in close proximity, they can no longer ignore the powerful attraction between them. Passion ignites, and their relationship takes a turn neither of them wanted.
But when the full moon comes, everything might change again.
A slightly different take on shifters. With their numbers increasing and humans being bitten without their consent there are new laws in place and shifters have to have their DNA entered on a register. Breaking this law can lead to serious consequences so most don’t – or at least it’s not widely talked about.
Jared is our human and after a bad experience with a shifter that left him in hospital he tends to avoid them like the plague. His injuries from that attack were bad and his thoughts on all things shifter are erratic and based on that one event. He despises their arrogance and I think secretly gets a kick out of turning them down. Nathan is our shifter and on first appearances he has that arrogance that Jared hates. He’s a one night stand kind of guy who has no interest in settling down or bonding to anyone – especially not a human.
Nathan and Jared meet in a club. Nathan tries to pick him up and Jared calmly tells him to fuck off. Before anything else can happen Nathan is called out to a pack emergency and both men assume that’s the end of it. A little while later whilst Nathan is chasing a rogue through the streets of London fate drops a doozy on both of them – Jared is in the wrong place at the worst moment and he ends up with Nathan’s teeth lodged in his throat. Panicked Nathan decides to take Jared home and aims to keep him there for the next few weeks until the full moon at which point they will both know whether Jared will become a wolf – getting him there however when he lives in a building full of wolves turns out to be a comedy of errors which in turn becomes a little bit gross and a lot smelly!
Watching this pair have to live together and deal with the knock on effects of that bite is both funny and very hot. I have to admit to liking a possessive man so two possessive men who both growled and showed their teeth was great. With neither man sure on whether their feelings are true or a result of biology things blow hot and cold a lot and it’s made more difficult by the fact that no one else in the pack knows what has happened for fear of punishment.
I would have liked a bit more at the end about the rogue pack as it seemed to have been taken care of suddenly but not really on page. There was a great cast of secondary characters and I wonder whether we will see anything in the future for the Dr and Seb. I also wouldn’t have minded a bit of Karma for Wes as he was a total douche but I suppose a girl can’t have everything in life
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
