Prism Book Alliance® would like to thank for stopping by today on the 2016 GRL Author Spotlight Tour. Please give them a warm welcome.
N.R. Walker’s First GRL!
I’m so very excited to be part of GRL this year! And after many years of seeing the photos on Facebook and wishing I was there, this year I will be!
But I’m not just doing GRL. My family (hubs and two kids) are doing a five week holiday tour of the US first. We arrive mid-September, starting in Las Vegas, then we go to Nashville, New York, Boston, into Canada (just long enough to see the Niagara Falls) then back down to Washington, then across to San Francisco, and finishing up in LA.
There, my hubs and kids will depart back to Sydney, and I will meet up with a friend and together we’ll fly onto Kansas City for GRL.
So, as you can see, it’s going to be hellabusy. And to be honest, going into GRL absolutely exhausted and travel-weary, isn’t ideal. But it can’t be helped. I’m sure I’ll be so hyped about meeting everyone that my exhaustion can hold out a few more days. LOL I can sleep on the fourteen hour flight back to Sydney, right?
And trying to be organised in advanced is difficult. I’m more of a leave it til the last minute then panic kinda person, but I’ve tried my best to think of everything and be on top of it all. Not only do I have family-holiday-and-kid’s stuff to worry about, but I also need to think about swag, signed books**, panels, public speaking, blog posts, book releases and other things, just to mention a few…
As I’ll be travelling for the five weeks’ prior to GRL, I need to have everything sorted at my end by early September. Then I need to get everything shipped to the US and pray nothing gets lost in the mail. Most things (from Amazon etc) I’ll have shipped directly there, but there a few things that need to come from me (mostly swaggy stuff) so there are logistical issues as well.
But I think I’m on top of it.
Well, except for the fact I am hoping to have a book released before I fly out. It’ll be a stretch for me to get it done and ready by then, as the book in question is still a work in progress, and I’m way behind schedule. It would be nice to have an empty inbox before I leave though.
But all the mayhem aside, most of all, I’m just really excited! Not only do I get to travel and do some sightseeing, but I also finally get to meet some pretty amazing people. I’ve met a lot of people online over these last few years who I call friends, and I can’t wait to meet them in person. I think that’ll be the best part for me.
Not the fabulous books, not the crazy-busy event, not the signings or the panels, but the people. I can’t wait to meet the people I’ve spoken to online for years! I can’t wait to put faces to the names, and hear all your crazy accents (because you all have accents, not me LOL).
And, let’s not forget the other most exciting part… meeting my favourite authors!! I will probably fangirl so hard it’ll be embarrassing for everyone. Consider yourselves warned LOL I don’t do particularly well in crowds, and given I’ll be by myself on the other side of the planet, and given I’ll be at the tail end of six weeks away from home, chances are I could be a little fragile.
So, at GRL this year, if you see a beyond tired Australian redhead who looks a mix of bewildered, excited, and terrified, please be gentle with her. 😉
I look forward to seeing you there!!
**Due to Missouri tax laws, I won’t be selling signed books at GRL. So, as a reminder, if you want books signed by me, you will need to fill out THIS GOOGLE FORM (before September 1st). The book/s will be purchased prior and I will organise your books to be at GRL, signed.
I hope people understand why I won’t be carrying a stock of books with me for GRL. Logistically, it’s just not possible. But please feel free to bring your own copies and I’ll very gladly sign them!
About the Author
N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance. She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn’t have it any other way.
She is many things; a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who live in her head, who don’t let her sleep at night unless she gives them life with words.
She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things…but likes it even more when they fall in love.
She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.
She’s been writing ever since…
