Faery royalty have always married for duty rather than love. Prince Chrysanths should be no different—except with a human for a father, the prince known as Puck already is different. When he is betrothed against his will to Prince Sky, Puck flees to his father in the human world, only to have Sky follow.
Prince Sky Song of the Clouds isn’t thrilled with the prospect of marriage either, but is bound by duty to follow through. If he can’t win Puck over, the faery realm might very well dissolve into utter chaos. Too busy arguing, Puck and Sky are unaware there are others with a vested interest in seeing the betrothal fail. In a bid for Puck’s crown, they’ll seek to keep them apart, even as Puck and Sky realize that duty and love don’t always have to be mutually exclusive.
I LOVED this. I have to mention that the narration was a huge part in that, but more on that later. However, the story was the perfect blend between fairy tale and mm romance.
I could see parts of this as a movie (minus the more nsfw aspects). The descriptions of the faery home were vivid and contrasted nicely with the human realm. The story didn’t drag on and I was really engaged.
Though Puck was sulky and selfish in the beginning, I felt he really grew and matured. I loved Sky and his duty and watching him learn the ways of the humans. Together they were definitely compatible.
There were some great secondary characters, and even though a big plot point kind of “magically” resolved itself, I still really enjoyed the overall story.
This is my first book by this author, but will not be my last!
I also LOVED the narrator! He really brought this story to life. He had a wide range of emotion and voices. It kind of reminded me of the Harry Potter audio books but with sex, and he did the sex well too 🙂 I will definitely be looking for more of his work!
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the audiobook of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
