Prism Book Alliance® would like to thank Ethan Stone for stopping by today on the 2016 GRL Author Spotlight Tour. Please give them a warm welcome.
Have I Failed You?
Have I Failed You?
I have bit of a love/hate relationship with GRL, not because it’s ran poorly, because I give major kudos to all the organizers. But I often feel like I fail readers.
I, like many other authors, am an introvert. I shy away from social interactions in my everyday life and it works most of the time. Demetri, my wonderful amazing boyfriend, is even worse than I am and my son is more than happy to spend time in front of his computer. I only have a few close friends that I hang out with occasionally and I’m fine with that.
So GRL is a major change for me. I’m fine once I get to know people and there are tons of friends I see only when I attend GRL. But how did I make those friends? For the most part they came up to me. Dolorianne and Lynn and several others were part of my first big fan moment at the very first GRL in New Orleans. I mean these ladies were excited to see me! Since then I’ve made so many more friends that I can’t even begin to name them all.
But it’s still tough to make new friends. One of my issues is that I have what some people called a resting bitch face. Basically, my normal face makes it appear that I’m in a bad mood. Even when I’m in a good mood or even a mediocre one it can still appear that I’m cranky. I try my best to smile and wave at everyone but there are times I fail. And I feel bad about that.
I love the book signing at GRL even if it can be emotionally exhausting and the author lounges are another great way to interact with readers. But what I love most is sitting somewhere in a central location, usually the hotel lobby, and just hanging with people. Maybe people I know and maybe people I don’t know. Either way it’s great fun. And this year I intend to get in on a game of Cards Against Humanity.
If I already know you, please come say hi if I don’t. I’m a hugger but will hold back unless I know that person is too. So feel free to give me a hug. To those who don’t know me, feel free to introduce yourself. Even if you haven’t read my books, who have read them and didn’t like them, I’d love to meet you. I love talking books or writing or whatever.
Don’t let my grumpy face stop you, chances are I’m in a fine mood. Can’t wait to see everyone.
About the Author
Romance on the Edge
Ethan Stone doesn’t write your typical boy meets boy stories. With a combination of love and suspense he makes his characters work hard for their HEAs. If they can survive what he puts them through, then they can survive anything. He enjoys Romance with an Edge.
Ethan has been reading mysteries and thrillers since he was young. He’s had a thing for guys in uniform for just as long. That may have influenced the stories he writes.
He’s a native Oregonian with two kids. One of whom has made him a grandfather three times over; even though he is way too young.
