Release Date: 09/12/2016
Ex-surfer-turned-businessman Liam Mallaney moved back to Holkham, Norfolk, to mourn the loss of his husband. Grief and loneliness keep him a solitary figure, and he likes it that way. There’s no room in his broken heart for anything else.
Rentboy Zac Payne left London and most of his demons behind, but he still only knows one way to make a living. When he spots Liam in a club one night, it seems he’s found his mark. But Liam proves nicer—and their connection far deeper—than he’d bargained for.
Their arrangement quickly becomes too complicated for Zac, who has other things on his mind: namely his BFF and wayward flatmate, Jamie. Zac owes Jamie the world, and even as Jamie’s drug addiction destroys all they have, Zac won’t leave him behind.
Besides, Liam knows nothing of Zac’s home life, too caught up in his own head to think much beyond the crazy heat he and Zac share. But when trouble comes to Zac’s door, putting his life in danger, Liam must set his grief and anger aside to pick up the pieces of Zac’s shattered heart and his own.
Recent Release Spotlight with Garrett Leigh.
We are here today to talk about Rented Heart. What can you tell us about it?
Rented Heart is a love story between ex-surfer-turn CEO widow Liam, and rent boy Zac, but it’s not your typical rich man rescue story. Liam has a heart of gold, and Zac is an ex addict with a kind soul. It’s probably my favourite pairing I’ve written this year.
Please tell us more about our main characters.
Oops, I probably did that above, but I can say that neither man is likely what you’re expecting <3
What is next for these characters? Is there more to this series? If so who will we hear from next?
There is a loose plan for Zac’s best friend, Jamie, to get his own book, but I have no idea when I’ll get round to writing it!
What are you reading right now and what is next on your to-be-read list?
I’m reading a Kim Fielding book right now, then I’m going on a LA Witt binge with the paperbacks I’ve just brought back from the UK Meet. I’m lucky I get to design covers for such awesome books and the authors let me have a copy.
What are you working on? What is next?
At the moment, I’m working on edits for Strays—the sequel to Misfits, and the draft of my second Porthkennack book, which is still untitled. It’s going to be a busy winter!
What part of a new story comes to you first? Characters? Plot? A scene? A theme? Or does it vary from book to book?
These days, it’s the cover. I tend to brainstorm on Photoshop, then figure out a story to go with the pretty I’ve wasted half a day messing about with. Who said procrastinating wasn’t constructive?
Do you take a break from a first draft to get distance from it, or dive right into editing, or edit heavily as you write?
I revise straight away, then try and leave it a week or so before reading it through again. Fresh eyes see so much more.
If you could have a threesome with any two people in the world, with the stipulation that their names had to rhyme, who would you choose?
Dan and Stan. Shh…
Rapid Fire Time
Cut or uncut? Uncut, I’m British
Tropical island or snow covered mountain cabin? SNOW
Australia or England? England
Alone or At a Party? Alone
Handcuffs or Rope? Rope
Coffee, black or doctored? Neither. Rooibos tea
Country or City? Country, with extra wifi
Cry or Scream? Punch shit

About the Author
Garrett Leigh is a British writer and book designer, currently working for Dreamspinner Press, Loose Id, Riptide Publishing, and Black Jazz Press. Her protagonists will always always be tortured, crippled, broken, and deeply flawed. Throw in a tale of enduring true love, some stubbly facial hair, and a bunch of tattoos, and you’ve got yourself a Garrett special.
When not writing, Garrett can generally be found procrastinating on Twitter, cooking up a storm, or sitting on her behind doing as little as possible. That, and dreaming up new ways to torture her characters. Garrett believes in happy endings; she just likes to make her boys work for it.
Garrett also works as a freelance cover artist for various publishing houses and independent authors under the pseudonym G.D. Leigh. For cover art info, please visit blackjazzpress.com.
One random commenter with thoughtful, relevant comments will win a $25 gift certificate each month in 2016.
