Three years after Jacob Carpenter landed on Caleb Fletcher’s doorstep, the Alpha mates return to the city they grew up in to be married.

Aside from the sheer exhaustion of traveling across the country with three children in tow, both men step foot back in New York filled with apprehension about what kind of reception they will receive from their families after abandoning their respective packs.

At first it seems they are welcomed home with open arms and much excitement about their wedding but it soon becomes clear that not everyone is so happy to see the prodigal sons return.

Indeed, Caleb finds himself wondering if Jacob will go through with the ceremony at all, or whether it would be better to pack up his mate and their children, and head back to Nebraska before the situation does irreparable damage to them both.

Sometimes you have to leave a place to realize it’s exactly where you ought to be.

My View:

I  enjoyed the first book in this series, with a couple of reservations, and was looking forward the sequel. And while this was less divided than the first in terms of direction, which should have been a good thing, however I felt that this needed a bit more bite (unintentional pun there) .

With established couples, especially when some time has passed, and the initial chase/ meet has calmed down without some tension injected into the plot the relationship can sometimes be too sweet. And for me that’s what happened here.

The focus is pretty much on the relationship, and while Caleb and Jacob are still endearing and well written, the tension felt a little forced in places. Transporting the action to the city did add something, but for me it didn’t feel wolfy enough , so that what I read about was a couple whose issues were caused by family tension an I didn’t get much wolf.

That being said, once again the writing is excellent, so I would definitely read more from this author.
