Charles Hunter’s team is on a mission to extract an unidentified ATF agent from an undercover job gone wrong. All they’ve got to go on is the rendezvous location—until Charles recognizes the ex he hasn’t seen in years. Their “simple rescue mission” is about to get a lot more complicated.
For Ángel Medina, adjusting to life after his cartel nightmare is hard enough without confronting memories of a failed relationship. All he wants is a fresh start. But when a violent stalker lashes out from the shadows, Ángel realizes his nightmare is far from over.
As the stalker’s obsession escalates and bodies start dropping, Charles and Ángel are thrown together in a desperate search for the culprit. Tempers flare and old passions reignite, drawing them back into the same turbulent relationship that once ended in disaster.
But the stalker isn’t letting go—and the next strike might hit straight through the heart.
Bisexuality and Biphobia
Hi! I’m Cordelia Kingsbridge, and I’m pleased to welcome you to the blog tour for my novel Can’t Hide From Me. Thanks so much for checking it out!
On Bisexuality and Biphobia
Can’t Hide From Me is the first novel in which I’ve written a bisexual protagonist in a contemporary setting. Of course, Charles’ experience as a bisexual black man is different in vital ways from mine as a bisexual white woman, but I do think there are some commonalities to the experiences of bisexual individuals across America. One of those is the range of disheartening reactions you get to coming out.
There’s the blank, baffled stare, for one thing. The dismissive eyeroll. The contemptuous snort. And then there are the comments: You’re just confused. You’re only experimenting. You’ll grow out of it. Or, my personal favorite: There’s no such thing as bisexuality, spoken with firm confidence by people who are unable to imagine life from anyone’s perspective other than their own.
The underlying sentiment to all of these reactions – though it’s rarely spoken aloud – is I understand your sexual orientation and desires better than you do. Sharing something personal with someone only to be met with this arrogant invalidation of your own experiences can be absolutely crushing.
In Can’t Hide From Me, Charles allows people at work to assume that he’s straight – not because he’s ashamed of his bisexuality, but because coming out as bisexual is essentially declaring open season for people to offer their opinions on something they know nothing about. Through Charles’ conversations and internal narrative in the novel, I was able to unpack some of my own feelings about coming out (or not) as bisexual, and the loaded emotions that surround such a choice.
Though I, like Charles, have usually chosen to keep my sexuality to myself, I do see hope for the future. Every well-known person who proudly comes out as bisexual, every new, well-written bisexual character in books or on television, is a step in the right direction towards visibility and acceptance. As our culture develops greater comfort with the fluidity of gender and sexual orientation, I look forward to the day when saying, “I’m bisexual,” to a new friend or coworker won’t be a risky revelation, but rather the sharing of a simple fact.

About the Author
Cordelia Kingsbridge has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh, but quickly discovered that direct practice in the field was not for her. Having written novels as a hobby throughout graduate school, she decided to turn her focus to writing as a full-time career. Now she explores her fascination with human behavior, motivation, and psychopathology through fiction. Her weaknesses include opposites-attract pairings and snarky banter.
Away from her desk, Cordelia is a fitness fanatic, and can be found strength training, cycling, and practicing Krav Maga. She lives in South Florida but spends most of her time indoors with the air conditioning on full blast!
