Title: Settling the Score
Author: Eden Winters
Publisher: Rocky Ridge
Genre: Gay Romance
Release Date: 10/06/2016
Outed and dumped on national television by his rising star boyfriend, Joey Nichols must face the bigotry of the locals in his small Southern town alone. His dreams of a happy ever after lie crushed at his feet.
Novelist Troy Steele has an axe to grind against Hollywood heartbreaker types. Transforming Joey into a gorgeous, unobtainable hunk would be payback worthy of Troy’s poison pen. It’s a brilliant way to get back at Joey’s image-obsessed ex-boyfriend and the movie producer who’s mutilating Troy’s novels.
What begins as simple revenge may tangle them together in something far more complicated. Living well may be the best revenge, but Troy and Joey could rewrite that to loving well.
The Writer’s World
Although I write about a variety of subject and places, both real and imagined, the process itself takes place in a very small corner of the universe. As in, nearly microscopic in the great scheme of things.
In other words, the extreme left section of my reclining couch, a beverage on the table next to me, and normally a cat beside me or in my lap (and a pile of chocolate wrappers nearby).
The lamp automatically turns on about the time I need it too, and turns off to tell me I’ve stayed up too late writing again. On this couch I’ve created whole worlds (and also nodded off and napped). It’s here that I Skype my crit partners, alternate between writing, researching, playing spider solitaire, and shopping online. I’m not capable of doing one thing at a time.
Here I’ve edited my work and others’, I critique for partners and had them critique me. There’s a sliding glass window nearby. It’s open on rainy days so I can hear the water falling, closed on hot and cold days, and one of my favorite things is to sit here with my laptop, hot chocolate, and a cat or two and watch snowfall.
My latest accomplishments from this couch is to revamp one of my earlier works, Settling the Score. I’ve learned so much since the original publication in 2010. The story is the same, just a bit more polished.
Returning to a novel is like visiting old friends you haven’t seen in a while and picking up right where you left off. Today Joey and Troy once more can leave this couch, go out in the world, and share their story with readers.
About the Author
You will know Eden Winters by her distinctive white plumage and exuberant cry of “Hey, y’all!” in a Southern US drawl so thick it renders even the simplest of words unrecognizable. Watch out, she hugs!
Driven by insatiable curiosity, she possibly holds the world’s record for curriculum changes to the point that she’s never quite earned a degree but is a force to be reckoned with at Trivial Pursuit.
She’s trudged down hallways with police detectives, learned to disarm knife-wielding bad guys, and witnessed the correct way to blow doors off buildings. Her e-mail contains various snippets of forensic wisdom, such as “What would a dead body left in a Mexican drug tunnel look like after six months?” In the process of her adventures she has written
