A fist fight, a snowstorm, a stolen kiss in the barn… and a second chance at love.
Ford Nixel has two law offices, two fancy condominiums, and all the right connections. In short, he has everything he wants.
The last thing he needs is his Uncle Ty’s stake in the Leaning N, a ranch that’s been in the family for generations. Ford hasn’t even been to the ranch in over a decade, not since he left his boyfriend Stoney behind and headed back to college alone.
Ford arrives at the Leaning N to find Stoney, now a single father, right where he left him. A fist fight, a snowstorm, and a stolen kiss in the barn later—Ford knows none of the heat between them has dissipated.
I mostly enjoyed this book. I love a well done second chance romance especially when that second chance is not perfect from the get go. I liked the characters and the tension, though I did feel like some of the angst was a bit over the top.
I am not writing a long review of this one because I feel like the narration took away from my enjoyment enough that I need to read this in ebook before I can really form a good opinion. I spent more time focused on the ways the narration was not working for me than I did in documenting all the ways the story itself did work for me. I will be picking this one up in ebook because I feel this story deserves a second chance and a true review.
John Solo was not the right narrator for this story. I have enjoyed him in the past but I feel he did not capture these characters well and actually some of his interpretations were detrimental to my enjoyment. His female and child voices were rather odd and his interpretation of Geoff came across more as stupid than hippy/vegan. It just did not work for me.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the audiobook of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
