Blurb:

Toby Kincaid loves being the junior librarian in his hometown of Sandy Lake, Ohio. He spends his days surrounded by books and chatting with the library patrons. He especially adores the head librarian, Mr. Miggles, who is kind, witty, knowlegable about everything, and hopelessly addicted to Christmas. Sean Miggles is also pretty cute—especially for an older guy who wears ties and suit pants every day.

But Sean keeps himself at a distance, and there’s a sadness about him that Toby can’t figure out. When Sean is accused of a crime he didn’t commit, he gives up without a fight. Toby realizes that he alone can save the library—and their head librarian.

Toby will need to uncover the darkness in Sean’s past and prove to him that he deserves a second chance at life and at love too. And while Christmas miracles are being handed out, maybe Toby will get his own dearest wish—to love and be loved by Mr. Miggles.

My View:

I have started to look forward to any offering by Ms. Eli Easton. Not all of them have resonated completely with me, but they are always well written and high quality. They are always a good read. Two of my all-time favorite comfort reads are Eli Easton penned Christmas stories (Blame it on the Mistletoe and Unwrapping Hank). So yes, I snapped up Merry Christmas, Mr Miggles, the minute it hit our PBA inbox.

If you want something completely and totally light hearted, this is not the story for you. However, Easton manages to infuse a fairly serious topic with her signature wit, light-hearted banter, and lovable characters you just want to see succeed in anything they want to do. Mr. Miggles is not exception.

Toby is too sweet for words. Mr. Miggles is somewhat of a mystery. However, you know he is nothing but good, despite his occasional bouts of the maudlins. You want Toby to find out Mr. Miggles secret for no other reason than you know that he can make it all better. You also want Toby to figure out just what he is worth.

We start out with Toby in a relationship and Mr. Miggles sad and alone. We also see him being railroaded by a few bad seeds. Toby is his best hope. Through the miracle of the holidays and some hard work on the part of one junior librarian, the holidays will bring more than a bit of cheer to Mr. Miggles. It will bring friendships, love, and loyalty. It will also bring answers.

Not everything is wrapped up neatly in a bow as we leave our two librarians in love. However, they are in a solid place where you know nothing but good will be in their future.

If you want a Christmas story with a little more meat, but one that will still warm your heart, I recommend you give Mr. Miggles a try.
