Simon Drake is an up-and-coming young FBI hotshot, an agent with a personal track record so outstanding that it borders on unbelievable. Not yet thirty, he’s already the leader of his own special ops team; a ragtag bunch of talented but nigh-uncontrollable lunatics, it’s true, but under Simon’s inspired leadership they’re a force to be reckoned with, a team with an unparalleled success rate, a team with an almost unblemished record–until now.

Jeremy Archer is the brilliant and unpredictable scion of a long line of international art thieves, simultaneously a phenomenally wealthy English socialite and one of the most infamous criminals in the world. At twenty-seven years old he’s already wanted on nearly every continent for thefts totalling more than ninety-one million dollars, and yet no one has ever come close to catching him–until now.

Now?

May the best man win.

My View:

I was recommended The Morning Star last year, and it looked interesting so I picked up a copy, but it languished on mount TBR. I finally decided to read it, as it fit a challenge category for reading game I was playing. I was blown away and wished I had gotten into this series soooo much sooner! I need more Jeremy and Simon in my life.

The writing was smart and witty, the action fast and the supporting characters more than just caricatures. We don’t get deep into anyone yet, but the bones are there. I loved the UST and the banter. The plot was perfect for a movie and I would love to see this as one.

There are a lot of free in between stories in The Shadow of the Templar series, as well as much longer novels. I have added them all to my to-read pile and hope I will get to them much sooner than I did Morning Star. I urge you all to pick up The Morning Star and enjoy!

  1. I can’t remember how I found out about this series, but I read them all during a spring break trip a couple of years ago – loved them all! And the online stuff that fills in the gaps was awesome. Get on it – you’ll love it!

  2. This series was one of my first m/m reads; I devored it and still own the paperbacks. A pity the story homepage wasn’t updated in ages; I love the whole series and all the short stories in between the books are just as delicious!
