So Long, Farewell ~ Outside the Margins with William Cooper

Join Prism Book Alliance® as William Cooper goes Outside the Margins today.

I want to say I’m sad that Prism is closing, but I’m really not. Sure, I’ll miss Prism and everything it has done for the genre and the LGBT community as a whole, but I’m excited because of what it means for Brandilyn.

I’ve spent the better part of the last year in Houston with Brandilyn and her family. I’ve seen all the work it takes to run Prism. I’ve seen her up until the wee hours of the morning fighting with tech support because the site is down. I’ve seen her running around like a crazed chicken at cons promoting the blog and looking for new material. I’ve seen the enormous size of her…. email….

It’s a lot of work.

And she did it for all of us. She spent all that time and effort (and money) running Prism for us authors. She did it for the readers who crave quality LGBT fiction. She did it for the people in the world who wanted to see books out there with characters like them in it. She did it to help normalize LGBT fiction, to bring it to the forefront instead of letting it lurk in the back corner of bookstores.

Now it’s time for her to do something for herself.

Her new photography venture is just that. It’s a way for her to enjoy herself, to relax and get away from drama and fighting and catfishing. It’s a way for her to stay involved in the genre with the authors and publishers she loves and still give back to them.

And I couldn’t be happier for her.

So I will miss Prism. I’ll miss guesting on here (even if I did slack and miss most months). I’ll miss reading all the reviews and guest posts from other authors. But I’m not sad, I’m happy for Brandilyn and eager to see her succeed.

So, happy reading, everyone! It was fun blogging with you!

  1. Such nice words, William. I’ll certainly miss Prism, but I’m happy for Brandilyn, because she deserves to enjoy herself as much as we have enjoyed her blog
