I for one am very sorry to hear about the closure of this wonderful website. It’s been a treasure and a boon to many authors and bloggers over the years but there comes a time when people need to make the best decisions for themselves and their families and move on. I’d like to wish Brandi and her family and colleagues all the best wishes in the world for the future. We’ll miss her bubbly nature and her matter of fact approach. We all had a great time writing for Out of the Margin too.
Talking of bloggers and pimpers (most often readers as well) – I think they should be one of the most appreciated resources an author can have apart from my fabulous readers of course. It’s a pity those who promote us tirelessly don’t always get the accolades they deserve, because their enthusiasm and love for our books is what makes us tick. Yes, we write great stories and do a huge amount of promotion ourselves and it’s not all down to them. But bloggers and pimpers really take it that one step further with their websites, fan groups, Facebook pages, all dedicated to promoting and spotlighting – US. The authors they enjoy and love or they wouldn’t be doing what they do.
They make us teasers, do giveaways, share posts, find us podcast spots, write us honest reviews, spread the word, and myriad other things. We often take them for granted, although I can honestly say with hand over my heart I always try to express my thanks personally every time someone does something for me that’s over my own expectations and even if not, I like to pop by and say thanks as often as I can. Or send them a bunch of flowers, or sign books and post them to the blogger as a thank you. Even include them in my book acknowledgments as a special mention. It’s the small gestures that count. They deserve a high five.
If I do mess up and not thank someone for doing a sterling job, then please forgive me. It’s not because I don’t want to, it’s simply because I’m juggling too many balls in the air and simply lost the plot for a while. Please know that whatever anyone does for me is appreciated and valued and I think bloggers and pimpers are awesome.
And to my readers and fans, those incredible people who make me smile and do a happy dance with just one sentence, or mention, or message telling me how much they enjoyed my stories – never forget you are the ones who make an author’s world truly go around, the ones whose support means everything and should never be taken for granted. YOU are the ones who make me write that next book, who spur me on to trying to make each one I write, better. Your word of mouth is paramount in getting my work out there and for everything you do, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
If you live on the West Coast of the US and fancy meeting me personally when I’m over in California from 22 -30 March, then please head down to my website to check things out. I’ll be at The Abbey on the 23rd March in West Hollywood, with actor producer Nicholas Downs and we’ll be signing books there.
I’ve also got a giveaway running for a Reader Ticket to the California Dreamin’ Conference in Brea on Saturday the 25th March.
The competition closes on Friday 17th March. All you have to do is post a comment below, telling me WHY you’d really like to be there at the Reader Event, and a random winner will be chosen on the 17th March, 8 pm UK time.

Tragedy brings together a reserved but brilliant sculptor and an outgoing gallery owner, friends whose love was sidetracked—but was always meant to be deeper.
SoCal natives, Nate and Cody have been friends since childhood. Both knew they were different—and the same. At seventeen, a stolen weekend in the Florida Keys drove their connection deeper and hotter than either could imagine. They were meant to be together. Then, for reasons only Nate knows, suddenly they weren’t.
They’re still friends. Best friends. But they’ve moved on and found other partners. The yearning remains, however, despite the long-ago secret that drove them apart, and when tragedy strikes, both men find themselves in the dark. They must grope their way back to who and what they are…which they will find in each other’s arms. Sometimes, losing one’s sight can open one’s eyes—and heart.
