First Day of School

For most people the first day of school is sometime in the vicinity of 1 September (give or take a few weeks).  For my oldest daughter, her first day of school was today.

Today we started Kindergarten.  No, she didn’t walk into a classroom as the new kid half-way through the school year, she walked into our living room just like she does every morning.  She got some phys ed in while mommy during her workout, watched a little Disney Junior while mommy cleaned up.  Then she and her teacher (mommy) sat down on the couch with her text books and mommy’s laptop and went through our lessons.  When she needed to write to complete a couple of assignments, we moved to the breakfast table.

Baby girl sat with us in mommy’s lap and listen to the stories, listen to the lessons, and interjected her babble from time to time.  L busied himself in another room with a toy.   When the crayons came out for crafts time, he joined us and drew us a lovely picture of… well I have no idea what it was supposed to be.  Mostly, I was just happy he didn’t EAT the crayons!

Once we had finished our main lessons for the day it was just about time for lunch and nap/quiet time so she and her brother played while I fixed lunch.  Yep, school was done before lunch.

After nap/quiet time, she asked to get out her knitting!  Mommy finally got the chance to share with my passion for knitting and teach her how to knit!  It will take some time and I now have another thing on my to-do list, as I promised her a project bag of her very own, so that will be my next project.

About BrandilynRC

Brandilyn is a middle-aged (When the hell did that happen?) stay-at-home mom to 3 beautiful children (of course she is biased). She started reading M/M Romance and Gay fiction in early 2012 and was quickly hooked. In her first 18 months as a M/M Romance fan, she read over 900 titles in the genre (not counting re-reads), ranging from shorts to epic novels. She reads across all tropes within the Gay Fiction genre…. except Regency, she has never found a love for Regency. A native Texan she finds Texas to the be almost perfect… except for one thing, their treatment of the GLBTQ community. This blog is her brain child and she is happy to welcome some fellow GLBTQ supporters to review here and help promote equality (oh and of course fangirl/fanboy over their favorite authors and works).
