Rock ‘n Learn Sight Words DVD ~ Review and Giveaway ~

I will admit it, my kids watch more TV than they “should”.  I was one of those parent’s that said “oh, my kids won’t watch TV”… but I have long since learned not to make statements such as that.  I do try, however, to ensure that much of what they watch is educational.  I also make sure that what they watch is something I can tolerate.  I have been interested in the Rock ‘N Learn series for a while and recently was give the opportunity to review the Sight Words offering.

I am suitably impressed.  It breaks the sight words into small groups of related words and puts each set to music.  The music music is simple and repeative, as educational songs should be, and each is accompanied by demonstrative video that lets the viewer know know only what the word IS, but what it means.  It also reviews each word in context of a story so the view and get an idea that these aren’t just random words, but make the necessary connections to reading.

When I told my 4 year old I was putting the DVD in for her to watch her reaction was “I don’t like it”.  Within about 2 minutes of the DVD playing, she was hooked and now requests it multiple times a day.

About BrandilynRC

Brandilyn is a middle-aged (When the hell did that happen?) stay-at-home mom to 3 beautiful children (of course she is biased). She started reading M/M Romance and Gay fiction in early 2012 and was quickly hooked. In her first 18 months as a M/M Romance fan, she read over 900 titles in the genre (not counting re-reads), ranging from shorts to epic novels. She reads across all tropes within the Gay Fiction genre…. except Regency, she has never found a love for Regency. A native Texan she finds Texas to the be almost perfect… except for one thing, their treatment of the GLBTQ community. This blog is her brain child and she is happy to welcome some fellow GLBTQ supporters to review here and help promote equality (oh and of course fangirl/fanboy over their favorite authors and works).

  1. I like the sight words one, or a Spanish one would be cool too since we are teaching our children Spanish.

  2. I would choose the sight words because that is what my grandson is learning now.

  3. I would love to see the Pre K – Kindergarten Nursery Rhymes DVD. My grandaughter is just the right age for it now!

  4. I would like to try the Multiplication Rock.
    Thanks for the giveaway
