From the Publisher:

Ardan Boyle has spent the majority of his life as a freelance assassin. Working throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East, he only accepts contracts for the most vile of criminals, for those who have made themselves ‘above the law’. His success can be measured in the reduction of criminal filth in the Old World but even this service to the world has a price: the total detachment from his humanity.

Enter Brad Myles, an aspiring actor and businessman. Their chance meeting at an airport awakens something Ardan thought long dead and even as they become acquainted, it becomes obvious that maybe there’s a cure for a lifetime of apathy. Nothing comes for free though and while Ardan may be on the road to recovery, his past is not quite so easily shed.

My View:

Killer Contingency #1: Reactivated is Caitlan West’s first foray into M/M Erotic Romance. I have not read any of her M/F stories, so I can’t compare the styles, but I can say that this isn’t my favorite M/M story I have read. I usually love Assassin stories, but this one was just rushed. Once Ardan and Brad get together it is kinda “insta-love” which I don’t like to see in a story. Especially one where the main character is unsure of his sexuality as Ardan is. He has been an assasin for so long he doesn’t really know who he is outside of that, personally or sexually. His few sexual experiences have been with women, so falling into bed with Brad instantly, was a bit much for me.

I think this story would have been better served to slow down and draw out the romance a little. It was only 94 pages and the reader was told things upfront that they could have been allowed to discover in a natural way with a longer story. I realize this is the first in the series, but I would still like to have seen it be a bit more in-depth.

I would like to thank PUBLISHER NAME and NetGalley for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
