From the Publisher:
Experienced dominant Marcus Tremayne has a stalker. On the plus side, the boy following him around his local leather club is gorgeous and a self-professed submissive. Unfortunately, he’s also inexperienced, bratty, and liable to drive Marcus insane within his incessant chatter and questions.
Bret Daniels fell head over heels with Marcus the moment he first saw him. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to get Marcus’s attention and prove his worth as a submissive. He might not be a traditional sub, but he knows he has a lot to offer a dom who can handle his quirks.
When Marcus gives in and agrees to do a scene with Bret, sparks fly. One scene quickly becomes another, and another. But will it be a case of once a brat, always a brat? Bret intends to prove to Marcus that—expectations and experiences aside—he deserves his master’s collar.
I will admit that I don’t read a ton of BDSM books, but I do enjoy a good one now and then. I have learned that Kim Dare usually delivers. Once A Brat, Dare’s latest offering from Riptide Publishing, is no exception. It is a short little novella (coming in around 90 pages), but it is a nice read. Marcus has no need for a bratty sub; Bret has no need for any Dom but Marcus. Will Bret’s persistence pay off or will his brattiness earn ridicule from the Dom of his dreams? This is Bret’s first foray into the world of Leather Clubs and BDSM. The minute he spots Marcus, he know that he is the Dom whose collar Bret wants to wear. After one scene together Marcus knows he hasn’t had enough of Bret.
I will also admit that Bret being a bratty sub was one of my attractions to this book. I don’t know what it is, but I like a bratty sub… probably because if I WAS into the scene there is no way I would be anything but bratty, myself. Once a Brat has an unusual sub and therefore is a bit of a less traditional BDSM book. Bret is a chatty sub, both internally and externally. His internal dialogue is enlightening. There are a number of POV shifts, but they aren’t so quick that you get whiplash or anything. I rarely say this about BDSM books, but this is a light easy, fun read.
I would like to thank Riptide and NetGalley for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
