I was very excited to read the second installment of the “Arbor Heights” series Learning to Breathe. I recently reviewed my first book by Diana DeRicci and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now that I have become a fan of this author I was really anticipating reading Ben and Remy’s story. Both men were so headstrong and bossy I knew the sparks would fly when they finally came together.
Author: Diana DeRicci
Publisher: ManLoveRomance Press
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars
From the Publisher:
To Remy, size is a state of mind, a fact few really learn to appreciate. When it wasn’t clear he’d live past being an infant, he grew up fighting. Fighting to live. Fighting to be treated with respect. The last thing he thought he’d have to do is fight his own heart. Getting clocked across the face wasn’t one of Ben’s better moments. Grudgingly accepting help from a pint-sized, argumentative Remy, he’s among those who learn the hard way small doesn’t necessarily mean weak.
In this story we get to watch a relationship bloom between two seemingly alpha males – one big, strong and stubborn – the other short, strong and bossy. The big surprise is that things aren’t always what they seem on the surface. Both men were featured in Learning to Live, and even though I got to know them a bit in that story I enjoyed them much more in this one.
I think the best part of these “Arbor Heights” stories has been the characters, and Diana DeRicci has really done an excellent job of making them all quite different. I had some preconceived notions about Ben and Remy from AJ and Avery’s story, and I realized I was really off base once I started this book. Both are very strong and stubborn men who have to deal with overcoming some stereotypes and misconceptions in order to give their hearts a chance at love.
Just like the first book in the series this one is filled with passion and emotion along with some sexy, sexy manlove. There is no shortage of steam between the sheets. I really enjoyed watching both men take chances despite being a bit vulnerable and quite set in their ways. Also, much like the first book this one left me wanting more, and I really hope I get to see how things progress with all of these men if this series continues.
I would like to thank MLR Press for providing me with the eRC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
