Jon had been Tony’s best friend for years, and they’d shared nearly everything—even watching his older brother’s X-rated movies. Some of them were the normal kind, where guys were eagerly banging gorgeous women. But others were more disturbing, because Tony’s older brother was bi-sexual, and enjoyed watching gay movies just as much as he liked the hetero ones.
Jonny wasn’t gay…he liked girls! So why did he always get so aroused when he watched Marc’s strangely arousing movies? And why was he getting so horny when Tony decided to strip right in front of him?
I picked up Best Buddies by Becca Sinh because it was marketed as Brother/Brother incest, which interested me and piqued my curiosity. Despite the blurb being vague on the brother/brother interaction, I decided to give the book a shot. However, in the end, I felt rather disappointed.
Maybe the inappropriate comma usage in the blurb should’ve given me a clue what I was getting myself into, but I looked past that for what could have been a good story. However, just like in the last book from Boruma Publishing that I read, this book desperately needed an editor. There were punctuation errors, head hopping, and weak writing throughout the entire book. It was very distracting and really got in the way of any enjoyment I might have found in this story.
But the problems went beyond just line editing. The characters were cookie cutter and basically interchangeable. I often got confused on who was who. They all acted the same, spoke the same, and thought the same. The only difference between our three characters were their names. We don’t have any personality, any fleshing out.
Also, the plot was nonexistent. There was no backstory and no clue what’s going to happen in the future. We got a single scene that took up maybe an hour of time. They watched porn, got horny, had a threesome, then it was over. And it was not even a hot threesome that would appeal to people wanting some porn to get off to. It was kind of boring, with three characters who came across as nothing more than names on a page.
The last thing that bugged me was the length of the book. I have a hard time believing it actually hit the 9,000 words claimed. In fact, the book ended at 61%. That’s right, what little story we had was barely longer than the backmatter they crammed into the file.
I don’t have any urge to pick up anything else from Boruma Publishing in the future.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with the eARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
