Will Owen submit, or will the lone wolf run?

Shifter Owen Pope is a bitter man, a lone wolf, banished by his pack for defying his Alpha. He survives day by day, working as a laborer, sometimes living for months as a wolf. On the borders of Sapphire Ranch, he catches a scent that calls to his wolf as he hunts.

Then he’s cornered, trapped with nowhere to go, and Owen realizes to his horror that the delicious scent belongs to the human pointing a gun right between Owen’s eyes.

He escapes, only to be confronted by two wolves, and his world is turned when he realizes one of them is a shifter from his former pack. Owen has so many questions but he’s not sure he’s going to like the answers.

Zeke is huge and fierce to his co-workers in the Cavalry, but he has one desire; to protect Owen and create a life together. Will Owen submit, or will the lone wolf run?

My View:

This is the third book in the Sapphire Ranch Wolves series and is Owen and Zeke’s story. The basic outline for the story is that wolves are being targeted and hunted and that Sapphire Ranch is a safe place for them to hole up. They are aided by The Cavalry a tough group of men who work as security and who more often than not turn out to be their mates.

I am a sucker for the occasional insta-love story when it comes to mates. I love to lose myself in the theory that there is one person out there for you that fits perfectly and when you meet that person it’s all encompassing, you just can’t help yourself and there is certainly nothing that can put the brakes on your actions. This definitely happens in this series – one sniff of their mates and all is lost!

Owen is a wolf at the end of his tether. He was banished from his pack six years ago and survival is becoming more and more difficult. His old alpha’s actions have left him feeling broken and he can’t imagine anyone ever wanting him. He is a rogue wolf, alone in the world and barely scraping by when overnight his circumstances change as he stumbles on Sapphire Ranch, an old ally and his mate.

Zeke is ex-military and goes where the Cavalry sends him. His current job is at Sapphire Ranch protecting a group of wolves and their mates from a rapidly growing group of hunters whose only mission of life is to rid the world of shifters. He realises the moment he meets Owen exactly what they are to each other but his joy is short lived when they are faced with fighting for their lives.

I really liked the dynamics that Sue created between Zeke and Owen. Most of the time Zeke is appears to be more wolf than Owen, if he was a wolf he would most likely be an alpha. The story doesn’t move on very much in this one but things at the ranch are becoming tenser and I’m sure something pivotal will have to happen soon in this series.
